A partner in Herrick’s real estate department, Christina Ying concentrates her practice in real estate finance, sales, acquisitions, developments and joint ventures.

Christina represents lenders, owners and developers in interim, permanent, construction, mortgage and mezzanine loan financing, as well as acquisitions, sales and development, joint ventures and workouts. This work encompasses commercial real estate assets such as office and retail facilities, hotels, resorts, condominiums and mixed-use developments.

A former commercial litigator focused on real estate foreclosures, Christina is highly experienced at representing borrowers and lenders in structuring workouts, and in protecting clients’ strategic interests during negotiations. Clients appreciate her pragmatic, yet creative, approaches and her tenacity in pursuing their business goals.

Christina has advised a wide range of sophisticated clients, institutional lenders, funds and major developers on numerous complex transactions. She recently represented the buyer in a $68 million acquisition, equity and mortgage financing of a large, mixed-use building in Brooklyn, and a major bank in the sale of a $180 million portfolio of real estate loans.

Christina has also represented first-time investors and developers in New York City, including a property owner whom she helped to redevelop an office building into a Marriott-branded hotel in Midtown Manhattan.  A number of international clients looking to make significant real estate investments in New York City have also called on Christina to guide them through the intricate process of investing and building in the city.

Shaping the Real Estate Profession

Christina volunteers her time to engaging Asian Americans in the real estate profession. She serves on the board of the Asian Real Estate Professional Association (AREPA), a nonprofit that provides a forum for Asians in the real estate profession and those interested in a career in real estate.  She also is a member of Asian Real Estate Association of America, and Asian Women in Business, a nonprofit with the primary mission of assisting Asian women entrepreneurs Christina frequently speaks on various legal and real estate issues and trends.   Christina has in the past supported or volunteered her time to aid the Asia Society and various charities in New York City including, the Central Park Conservancy, New Yorkers for Children and Save Venice, Inc.

Her recent speaking engagements include a presentation at the 2014 Annual Conference of the Asian American Bar Association of New York, where she spoke about current development projects in NYC. Christina also served as the host and emcee for AREPA’s distinguished speaker events featuring Michael Meyer, Bruce Eichner and Young Woo, which events took place at Herrick, Feinstein’s offices.

Christina has a B.A. degree from Columbia College at Columbia University, and a J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
