Job Description

Corporate Accountant is responsible for month end close and financial reporting, taking the lead on managing operation budgets, comparing forecast and actuals, researching and implementing new accounting standards. This individual will play an important part in designing and implementing ongoing procedural changes and automation initiatives, in a fast-paced environment characterized by strict adherence to tight deadlines and dedication to quality control in all aspects of the process.

The Corporate Accountant will generally be responsible for:

• Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as well as monthly, quarterly and annual actual to budget analysis.

• Drive month end, quarter end and year end closing duties which include ensuring close timeliness and accuracy, bank account reconciliations, calculating accruals, journal entry preparation/posting and variance analyses.

• Review monthly budget variance reports, research and explain variances.

• Analyze and maintain monthly cash balances and project future cash flow.

• Provide support for the implementation, documentation, and monitoring of internal controls.

• Monthly preparation of schedules to support the balance sheet and income statement.

• Prepare schedules/analyses as required for year-end external/internal audits.

• Perform other related duties and departmental coverage as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in accounting from an accredited college or university required.

• Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.

• 2-4 years in real estate accounting experience preferred.

• Experience with the Big 4 audit firms or other audit firms in real estate is preferred.

• Attains a thorough understanding and application of USGAAP and double-entry bookkeeping.

• Strong interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm for working closely with a multitude of internal and external partners.

• Significant Proficiency MS Office computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Power Point).

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. The person in this position frequently communicates with other employees and outside business contacts. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must frequently be able to safely and independently move or position up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Flexibility is a necessity as extended hours will be required from time to time to meet the needs of the business that will require some weekends and evenings.
